30x50 Barndominium Floor Plans
A 30x50 barndominium has 1,500 square feet: the extra 10 ft over a 30x40 buys wider bedrooms, a 20 ft great room and a longer porch, or a fourth bedroom on a single bath. Four layouts follow, each measured, priced and ready to open in the editor.

What the extra 10 feet buys
Going from 30x40 to 30x50 adds 300 square feet, and on the 50 ft front layout almost all of it goes into width: the primary bedroom grows from 12 to 15 ft wide, the secondary bedrooms from 12 to 15 ft, and the great room from 16 to 20 ft. A queen bed, two nightstands and a dresser fit in each secondary room without anyone turning sideways.
Compare it with the 30x40 layouts: same room count, a noticeably easier house to live in.
Four bedrooms in 1,500 square feet
The generator fits four bedrooms of 11 ft or more in a 30x50 by putting all four in a row across the back and sharing one bathroom. The living room becomes a single 36 ft wide space across the front. It is the cheapest four bedroom house on this site, and the right answer for a family that values a bedroom per child over a second bath.
If two baths matter more, keep three bedrooms and turn the office in the two bedroom shop layout into a third bedroom, or move up to 40x60.
Cost to build a 30x50 barndominium
A 1,500 sq ft barndominium costs about $120,000 to $180,000 to build with a standard finish, using the $80 to $120 per square foot range Houseplans.com gives for 2026. Across the whole published range of $65 to $160, the figure runs from about $98,000 to $240,000. A stick-built house of the same size would be $195,000 to $270,000 at $130 to $180 per square foot.
The shop in the third layout is priced on top: Realtor.com quotes complete barndominium kits from $50 to $100 per square foot without interior materials, which gives an idea of the shell alone. The calculator adds land and site work.

Choosing the 50 ft front or the 30 ft front
The 50 ft front plan is a split plan: parents at one end, children at the other, everyone meeting in the middle. The 30 ft front plan is a hall plan: the public rooms face the road and the private ones sit behind, off a 3.5 ft hall that ends at the laundry and the back door.
